Everyone Goes Home Fundraiser

911 Safety Equipment is working with Everyone Goes Home Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives program, which is made possible through the efforts of the National Firefighters Foundation with funding provided my the Department of Homeland Security, Assistance to Firefighters Grant and the generosity of Fireman’s Fun Insurance Company.

The fundraiser includes Everyone Goes Home wristbands that are being sold for $5.00 an can be ordered through the 911 Safety Equipment website or the Everyone Goes Home website. Monies raised go directly to firefighters that lose their lives in the line of duty.

Every year approximately 100 firefighters lose their lives in the line of duty in the United States, or one every 80 hours. In addition, the National Fire Protection Association cites more than 80,000 firefighter injuries annually. Firefighter injuries and death rates have remained relatively constant over the past several years, despite monumental improvements in technology and equipment.

The Everyone Goes Home Program provides free training, resources and programs to champion and implement the 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives. Our Own Nick Marzano in Training


Our own Nick Marzano observed his first training session inside a structural burn building yesterday late afternoon at the Montgomery County Fire Academy. The Fire Academy operates with seven full time employees and a cadre of over 150 part-time instructors. The Academy is located in Plymouth Township at 1175 Conshohocken Road, Conshohocken, PA 19428. In addition to the structural burn building the Montgomery Country Fire Academny trains studens in a 10 classroom administration building, a two story smoke house, a five story drill tower, a drafting pit, a flammable gas pad, and a commercial structural burn building.

Thrill Show Huge Success

On Saturday, September 26 the 2009 Philadelphia Hero Thrill Show was held in South Philadelphia in the Comcast Center parking lot. Several thousand attendees were thrilled by motorcycle demonstrations, the Philadelphia Police & Fire Pipes and Drums, and the Police Patrol Motorcycle Drill Team.

The show raises money for a college education fund established for the children of police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty. Since its inception 4 years ago when only 400 people attended, the Thrill Show has become a huge success raising more than $500,000 the last two years. Dan Messantonio wins Competition

On June 29th, Spring Mill Fire Company held its first training competition at Colonial Elementary School. 19 member competed for not only the fastest time but bragging rights for a year. To view the video click on the “Spring Mill Competition” video found on our right toolbar.

Dan Costello would take the early lead with a time of 2:26. Mitch Kijak soon after would tie the leader. With only a few firefighters to go Dan Messantonio beat his practice time by 51 seconds to take the lead, which he would hold on to, with a surprising time of 2:06.

The top three finishers for the day were:

1. Dan Messantonio 2:06
2. Dan Costello 2:26
3. Chuck Fields 2:26

Messantonio received a $50 gift certificate to 911 Safety Equipment as well as an inscribed trophy which will be passed on to next year’s winner.
